cahpter 8 : project rolling in

Early 2000, SKALI got a chance to deploy NeoFission for travel agency called Trifiniti Network owned by Tajuddin Ramli. SKALI got high profile project following year in form website OIC Exchange for OIC Networks. Malaysia Airport too wanted website that would allow the Flight Information Display (FID) to view from website using NeoFission. A really big break came 2002 when SKALI won contract RM3million to develop EPF website. Develop it proved to be a bigger challenge and also financing was required. If SKALI got a loan from bank, it will be put up RM800,000. But SKALI make a loan from Malaysian Debt Ventures (MDV) advisor by Japanese affair to help local technology projects gain access to project financing capital. One project that SKALI lost is MAS because their project need more component that SKALI didn't specialist. Another project that SKALI lost is Putrajaya website because 80% from that requirement project was out from core's SKALI competensies.

chapter 7 : finding a solution

In the end 1997, SKALI start to develop own portal which need CMS to easier manage data. At that time, SKALI have a problem about financial and make a decision use open source to develop system. In this way it save budget and give the software on the less prices better the competitor. As a chief programmer, Ivan Hoo create his own project CMS called Media Digital Alliance (MDA) and will be conduct with his friend Megat Husni Megat Hashim. SKALI will invest. Skali Digital Alliance was formed with SKALI holding 40% and MDA 60%. License fee for product would be split together and thus, when SKALI was listed, it will buy up the whole company. The earlier version CMS that created by Ivan and Megat was use to develop skali.com. Skali.com is a trial and marketing for CMS product that called NeoFission. In August 1999, SKALI entered the payment gateway business via joint venture with Camtech Asia IT&T. This joint venture called classic 'smart partnership'. Payment gateway allows secure online transactions. In the end 1999, the solutions business ready to marketed, and SKALI decided to leave the portal business. There are many competition from other locals portal players like Catcha.com were aggresively marketing themselves. After 3 years contract with AltaVista, SKALI did not renew. AltaVista had become passe by then. SKALI was one early adopters Open Source and the first portal try use PHP programming. SKALI also the first offering 'Linux-based hosting'. SKALI can save RM15million by using OS platform. Dr. Mahathir decided that Malaysia must start looking OS and instruct the MAMPU ready to use it. SKALI were invited to give several input about this issues. MAMPU proposed the creation of Open Source Competency Centre. DRB-Hicom interesting since they had launced Linux-based personal computer. The government decide to award the project consortium consisting DRB as lead partner and SKALI as junior partner.

it's my life

Life like wheels..... Always turn around nonstop. for me, life must be go on eventhough many problems become.. problem can be solve if we wise to search ways... but, if we cannot meet that ways, life can be difficult.
sometimes, we are happily... sometimes sad.... sometimes we are singing.... sometimes we are dancing... sometimes we at the top.... sometimes far in the corner...., but whatever we are, life must be go on. For me, all problem becomes are testing from Allahs.w.t. Allah always test his slave because Allah love them....
I've some tips that i've practices:

* time to pray, pray struggle
* time to study, study stuggle

peace island.....

Labuan is a small island. u can go there by aeroplane from kl and if from kk u may take ferry. i love labuan. labuan is a peace island. people there are friendly. if u want round labuan, u just take 30 minutes only....this is because labuan so small. it have interesting places like bird park, peace park, the chimney, botaniacal garden, marine park, labuan squre and so on. labuan have many halal restaurant.. i always take a dinner at tomyam island restaurant. wow! it,s cookery very delicious.. if you go there, please come to tomyam island. please try "ikan kerapu 3 rasa, telur bungkus, kerabu sotong, tomyam, sayur campur, sate and abc". please try! dont miss try it.. ha!ha!ha!.. if you want to take lunch, you can go to foodcourt at financial park. so many cookery hot and buffet but a little expensive.. if you want to shopping, please dont try because all wear so expensive... if you want got souvenir you may buy at 'pasar philipine'.. there, you can buy all what you want like pearl, kristal, and so on...

1st time in sabah bah!!

April 2004 ....... i'm not happy receive a letter said "congratulations! you are selected as student UMS-LIC". Oh my god! i don't want go there....but my family hopefully i study there. so, i accepted. i go there lonely. my family just send me at KLIA. Never mind, start that day i'll be independet.i walk lonely to departure hall. First time take flight.... so funny... i dont know how use seat belt... hahahaha...... i'm arrive at early morning at kota kinabalu airport. in my mind, i think so many things.. how to go ums... who become my friend... theire food delicious or not.... so afraid.... not waste time, i take limosim and go to ums. the taxi driver is so kindly. he story me about the beautiful palces in sabah. .. Arrive at ums... i registered and the facilitator give me room key. on the way go to room, i've got new friend. she from kelantan. i go everywhere with her and until now we are still friend.
Oh my god! sabah's food is not same with our country. i cannot eat the sabah's food. i always take a maggie, bread and buscuit. i always miss my mum... i cry everytime... i always said want to go back. i cannot still in sabah. sabah is not my life... 2 weeks in kk, i send to labuan.... we take a ferry to go labuan. in labuan, life is changed. labuan is a peace island... people are kindly and friendly...
my campus is beach campus... so beautiful.... my campus so high... 13 storey.... i'm happy in labuan.... 1st year is enjoy life... but when in 3rd year... life is so difficult... all time must struggle to make a final project... no time to lunch, dinner,sleep and go to class too. no time to enjoy... all time just for sit in front of laptop and develop project. but after all project was done, life is independent. yahoo... go to shopping.... and enjoy with friends..... after 3 years in labuan.... so many sweet memory i got... labuan is a great island.......

2 weeks in class

Fuhhh........ php class was done. 2 weeks we fight with php. So incredible... brain always be function.Our face like coding php, but Mr Naim expert to tackle we all. Everyday our class always cheerful with humor and funny with friends and Mr Naim. Everytime, situation in the class never boring and quiet.... time to present is the scaring time. If present by group, it's ok but if present individual, it's so scares.... imagine talk individual in all audience (friends and lecturer).... very flutter.. Yesterday, we must submit the guestbook system and must present individual about the guestbook. so nightmare for me because the guestbook not yet done. How to present and how to show if not ready yet. But Mr Naim is a good lecturer, he said "everybody must present even not yet done. U may use power point slide show to show to your client. Imagine u present your system to your client. U must talk to client why you do guestbook like that. Who is your target user and the guestbook must be user friendly . U will be start present at 11 o'clock. Now you can can edit your guestbook and perepare your material to present."
11 0'clock.....
''okay.. time to present . Voluntere please! Who want to present first..." dup..dup..dup.... all friends flutter. suddenly Fikri volunteer to present first. Wow! he's a great boy! hehehe......I'm the second presenter. I volunteer to present because i confident with my guestbook. Even not yet done, i will try to explain to client. when i present, so many questions come to me and i can give the answer. In the all question, i like this question "why you choose black colour as yor banner?" Arghhhhh..... he make me die! I don't know to answer but i said black is great. hahaha....... but i got some new information from that question.. Mr Naim said don't try to choose black colour to any system or website, because black symbols to black metal. so, okay, i take note that as a reminder for me.
So, what the message that what will be i selected here is we must brave to face the challenges and ready to brave to accept other opinions.
